Kiyanilie urges reviving traditional values

Kohima, September 10: Minister of Social Welfare, Kiyanilie Peseyie underscored the need to revive the fast diminishing traditional values of the forefathers such as sincerity, truthfulness, integrity, obedience and respect to the elders along with pursuit for quality education in life.
The minister was speaking at the 32nd fresher’s meet cum annual get-together of the Poumai Students’ Union Kohima (PNTMK) as the chief guest on September 10. The minister, in his address, said education is all round development of an individual to meet this competitive world and not merely seeking academic degrees.
While congratulating all the freshers on their success in their last exam, he reminded that students life is the most important period in a person’s life as it is the most ‘productive’ and ‘defining period.’ He urged them to make the best use of every opportunity that comes their way.
He urged the gathering to join hands in reviving and preserving the fast disappearing Naga values of the past such as sincerity, truthfulness, integrity, obedience and respect to the elders. He appealed the gathering to contribute for the betterment and uplift of the society.Chief Manager SBI, Senapati branch and guest of honour, Hepuni Bismarck, urged the students not to focus on government job alone but look beyond as many opportunities are available in private sectors which are much better than government job. He, however, reminded that hard working is a must to be successful in any career.
Bismarck advised the students to have proper planning with right target to achieve their goal. He reminded the need of discipline and to stay focus on the target to be successful in life. Advocate of Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, Ashipri Zho, in his address, challenged the students to work hard with sincerity. He shared his life testimony on how he struggled and work hard during student’s life to reach the present status.
NSF education secretary, Imtiyapang, in his address, reminded the students that there is no magic or formula to be successful in life unless they work hard at the right time.
The programme was compeered by Veikho Victor and Vavine Roshi, while pastor of MCRCK, Vikho Khapi, invoked God blessing, and the welcome address was delivered by president of PNTMK, Khupunii Biimai. Special songs were presented by Poumai Baptist Youth Kohima, Poumai Catholic Youth Kohima and Poumai Revival Youth Kohima, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Thohrii Khapi, GS PNTMK, and the closing prayer was pronounced by Rev. Thaongaolou Rosii, pastor of PBCK.
S Davei Apaomai and Caroline Chao were declared Mr. and Miss freshers respectively. Programme was attended by students, church leaders, students’ leaders, public leaders, well wishers and others.
