[dropcap]M[/dropcap]inister for Social Welfare Kiyanilie Peseyie inaugurated the newly-constructed building of a welfare institution, called the Observation Home, in Pherima under Kohima district. The institution was constructed under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Peseyie stressed on the need for public cooperation to protect and uplift the condition of vulnerable children, while also assuring that Government will do its best to implement schemes for the welfare of inmates.He further maintained that the Pherima’s Observation-cum-Special Home is the biggest home in Nagaland and with public cooperation can become the best Observation Home in India as well.
Secretary to Social Welfare, Dellirose M. Sakhrie while delivering a short speech on the occasion said that juvenile cases is increasing basically originating from family problems. She further stated that ICPS is a government intervention program to improve behavioral correction of the juvenile accused and to enable them to join mainstream life.
Also speaking on the occasion, newly promoted Director for Social Welfare, T. Merangtsungba Aier on behalf of the Department expressed appreciation to Pherima villagers and staff of Observation Home for the successful implementation of child care and protection programs. He said that physical development of Observation Home is increasing and stressed on the need for special personnel to deliver better services in the management of juvenile justice system in Nagaland.
Head GB Pherima A Village, Vikato Ayemi in his short speech expressed gratitude to the Department and also requested the Department to enhance development activities in the area assuring full cooperation from the village for effective implementation of the scheme.
In press release issued by Superintendent, Observation cum Special Home Pherima, Rukuvoto Ringa has expressed gratitude to Secretary, Social Welfare, Dellirose M. Sakhrie for donating computer sets to the Observation Home to impart computer literacy to the inmates.
