DIMAPUR — Ato Kilonser of GPRN/NSCN, N Kitovi Zhimomi has been reportedly impeached after an ‘emergency national meeting’ at Khehoyi designated camp on Sunday.

According to sources, Alezo Venuh who serves as an envoy to the collective leadership of the GPRN/NSCN has been ‘unanimously’ elected as the new Ato Kilonser of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN) and general secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN).

Though the Khehoyi camp did not release an official statement, reliable sources attributed the impeachment to Zhimomi’s wilful violation the national Yehzabo and failure to run the government effectively.

Among others, he is said to have caused the financial instability and displayed a lack of focus in bringing about exemplary changes in the GPRN. Sources also said that Zhimomi was accused of displaying ‘dictatorial’ tendencies which contradicts the established norms of the Naga national movement and the principles upon which it was founded.

Notably, Zhimomi and Venuh both hold key positions within the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) as convenor and coordinator respectively.

The impeachment raises questions about potential ramifications for the WC-NNPG which has signed the Agreed Position with the government of India on November 17, 2017.
