Dimapur, Aug. 19 (EMN): A tailoring programme for women was inaugurated at the Kiphire government hr. sec. school on August 19 in Kiphire district. The programme was initiated by the district’s administration and the Mahila Shakti Kendra. The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued on Monday updates about the programme.
According to details, the main objective of the event was to provide training to underprivileged young girls and women. The duration of the course will be of 3-6 months.
A citizen S Likhumla Sangtam thanked the district administration and the Mahila Shakti Kendra for organising the programme especially for women like single mothers and underprivileged women. She requested the district administration to provide the training facilities to equip the special women with skills and to monitor and assist the training programmes regularly so that they will be fruitful for the trainees, the IPR stated.
The additional deputy commissioner of Kiphire, Reny Wilfred, also addressed the event. In his speech, he said that almost 40 women will get training in six months. He appealed to the trainers to work hard ‘with sincerity and enthusiasm’ so that they can even export their products to other districts.
‘It is a humble starting of their life, but it has a huge potential to change their life because it is making them sustainable,’ the IPR quoted the official as having said.
Similar programmes were launched in Pungro and Seyochung-Sitimi sub-divisions, the IPR added.
