Kiphire agrees to bring back its stranded citizens

Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Civil society, Church and ward leaders representing the public of Kiphire, agreed to bring back its stranded citizens to the district.

According to the DIPR update, the decision was taken during the district task force (DTF) on Covid-19 meeting held on May 2 at the DPDB hall.

Deputy Commissioner Sarita Yadav, who presided over the meeting  sought opinions from the members present, in regard to the stranded citizens in Dimapur, Kohima, and other districts in the state.

Civil societies informed that the detailed statistics of stranded people are being prepared. To this, the administration has directed them to intimate the authority at the earliest in order to work out logistic arrangements with higher authorities.

 During the meeting, medical officer said that proper screening will be carried out for incoming citizens from outside the district and they will be home quarantined for 14 days which can also be extended depending on the case of individual.

DTF chairperson informed that activities in all the areas given relaxation by the government are going in accordance with the given guidelines.

All the existing guidelines such as no social and religious gathering, number of funeral attendees not exceeding 20, and to maintain social distancing in all the relaxed activities shall be followed till further order is issued, the chairperson said.

Police department and Assam Rifle have been requested to intensify monitoring in their respective duties.

In regard to the food stock availability, department  of Food & Civil Supplies informed that 1861 bags of rice is in stock and 2437 bags from PMGKAY is available in the godown.

Veterinary department informed the members about the outbreak of African swine fever in the neighbouring states and requested the administration for passing order banning on import of pigs from other states.

Church and civil societies said that the public have no objections towards burial in the eventuality of death due to covid-19.

Earlier, in the District Disaster Management meeting, the DC encouraged all the members to focus on other activities as well apart from Covid-19 response and control programme.

Fire and Emergency department reported that disinfection in the town areas has been carried out in March.

 Rural Development  department also highlighted the activities of NREGA while PHED also presented  on the connectivity/ water supply to the consumers.

The DTF team also attended a video conference with the state chief secretary.
