Kiphire admin extends relief to fire victims

A total of 19 families of Kiphire town who were rendered homeless following the devastating fire which broke out on November 23 evening were provided immediate relief by the distraction administration and Civil Supplies Department today at Police Point.Speaking to Eastern Mirror, EAC Kiphire Benjamin said 19 families were provide a 50 kg paddy bag each along with cash of Rs 5000 as immediate relief measures. The relief items were handed over by the Deputy Commissioner at Police Point at Kiphire town.
It may be mentioned here that a devastating fire at Kiphire town on November 23 razed a total of 16 shops and 1 house to ashes besides damaging other houses in the surrounding area. However, there were no reports of any casualty or injuries.
Though the cause of the fire could not be ascertained, it was suspected to have originated from an unattended fire or candle at ground floor. Authorities have ruled out electric short circuit as there was no power supply at the time of the incident.
Benjamin also informed that further necessary relief will be provided after assessment.
