Dimapur, May 29: It was a cause the good scouts of Dimapur felt to pursue. On Wednesday, people volunteered to donate money for a teenager Neilavonuo Yhome, a student who is said to be in the last stages of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), which is said to be an uncommon disorder causing immune dysfunction.
The funds were raised during a charity concert that was conducted on Wednesday evening along Circular Road in Dimapur.

The concert was organised by a Dimapur-based charity group called the Dimapur Humanity Foundation which was started through a Facebook page named Dimapur 27/7, in 2017. Since then, it has been organising numerous fund raising events for those in need.

Yhome’s father, Khrielelie Yhome, told Eastern Mirror that his daughter is 16 years of age and was studying in class-10 at Eden Higher Secondary School at Thilixu village in Dimapur. She started suffering from HLH, and after clearing her selection examinations.

HLH is stated to be a severe systemic inflammatory syndrome that can be fatal. This syndrome can sometimes occur in normal people with medical problems that can cause a strong activation of the immune system, such as infection or cancer. HLH in these settings is called Secondary HLH.

The father said Yhome had undergone numerous surgeries in different hospitals. Currently, she is at the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The final prescription given by the physicians is to have a bone marrow transplant which will cost around INR 30 lakh.

To help raise funds, over 20 choreographers and singers volunteered to perform for free at the event.
Yhome’s school also organised a fund raising programme in the school’s premises on the same day.

Through the announcement of Yhome’s news on social media this week, a number of people volunteered to donate money for her surgery.

In the day’s event, crowds, pedestrians, and nearby stores donated money for Yhome’s treatment.
