DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Bhandari Sub-Divisional Planning and Developmental Board (SDPDB) was held at the officers mess of the 7th NAP, Bhandari, Wokha, on Thursday.

According to a DIPR update, during the meeting, MLA and chairman, SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, who chaired the meeting, thanked the Power department for upgrading the former 1.6 MVA power transformer to 2.5 MVA.

He said that if the 1.6 MVA transformer could be shifted and installed at Merapani village (Marachu Yan), it would further ensure sufficient power supply for small-scale industrial, farming, and economic activities of the people in the area.

The house, while discussing the requirement for additional distribution transformers in strategic locations to ensure uninterrupted power supply, also appealed for the judicious and responsible use of electricity by the public.

Deliberations were carried out regarding the registration of Don Bosco School, Akuk, for a personal educational number (PEN), and it was decided to forward the matter to the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Wokha, for further necessary action.

Kikon also expressed his condolences for the unfortunate coal mine incident in the Ruchan village area on January 25, in which six people died and four were injured and the house wished the injured a speedy recovery.
