Kikon appointed BJP national spokesperson

Advisor for New and Renewable Energy, IT&C, Science and Technology, Mmhonlumo Kikon was on Saturday appointed as national spokesperson for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Kikon is a BJP legislator from Bhandari constituency in Wokha district. He is the lone candidate from the Northeast among the 23 national spokespersons headed Anil Baluni, an MP Uttarakhand.

On Saturday, the saffron party had announced its national team of office-bearers under the president JP Nadda.

Along with Kikon, M Chuba Ao, the former president of BJP Nagaland unit, was appointed as one of the 12 national vice-presidents.

The party had also appointed 12 national general secretaries; one general secretary (organisation); three joint general secretaries; 13 national secretaries; 23 national spokesperson and ten other party officials.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the new team and expressed hope that the party officials will serve the people of India selflessly and with dedication.

“Congratulations and best wishes to the new team. I am confident they will uphold the glorious tradition of our party of serving the people of India selflessly and with dedication. May they work hard to empower the poor and marginalised,” he wrote.

Rio, Patton congratulate Ao and Kikon

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also congratulated the two leaders from the state for their new assignments within the national party.

‘Congratulations to M Chuba Ao and Mmhonlumo Kikon on being appointed national vice president and national spokesperson of BJP respectively. I wish you both a successful tenure,” he tweeted.

He also congratulated all the national office bearers in the new team appointed by the national president JP Nadda, and wished them a successful tenure.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton congratulated all the new BJP leaders at the national level, including M Chuba Ao and Mmhonlumo Kikon.

He thanked the national president BJP JP Nadda “for reposing faith in the leaders from Nagaland and hope that their presence at the national level will have tremendous impact for the party and the people of the state and the region.”

Also, the Nagaland state unit of BJP, led by its president Temjen Imna Along, congratulated both the leaders.
