Kikheto Sema to manage Covid activities in Dimapur, again
Containment zone restrictions still in place
Dimapur, May 12 (EMN): The government of Nagaland on Wednesday assigned Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Y Kikheto Sema as the state nodal officer to manage Covid-19 activities in Dimapur district.
The chief secretary, J Alam, announced the new development through an order, stating that the officer would co-ordinate matters relating to the management of Covid-19 activities in the district in co-ordination with Dimapur District Task Force.
“He is further authorised to co-opt officers from government departments to assist him as and when required,” the order read.
It may be mentioned that Sema has experience in managing the pandemic as he was the overall in-charge for Covid-19 activities in Dimapur when the nationwide lockdown was imposed last year and the subsequent return of stranded citizens in other cities as well as exodus of migrant workers from the state.
He was relieved of the assignment after the pandemic situation normalised in the state last year.
Movement of persons, vehicles still restricted
The principal secretary of Home, R Ramakrishnan, has issued a notification informing the deputy commissioners and chairmen of DTF on Covid-19 in Kohima and Dimapur that the orders for containment zones in the districts are still in place.
It stated that restriction on movement of persons and vehicles will be in force in the containment zones till 6 pm on May 14, coinciding with the commencement of statewide total lockdown.
