Kigwema women train in making sanitary pads, pickle

Dimapur, March 2 (EMN): The village adoption committee of Kigwema in Kohima district in collaboration with the Women Resource Development department and the Fisheries & Aquatic department provided training in how to make eco femme sanitary pads besides how to make fish pickles on March 2 in the Kigwema Council Hall.

The objective of the programme was to “enhance and provide skill development and livelihood earning” to the womenfolk of Kigwema village, updates stated.

The department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Monday informing about the training event.

Central coordinator K Ramzeupeule imparted the training in making reusable sanitary pads using eco femme materials, the IPR stated.

According to the IPR, Ramzeupeule has trained at Eco femme, Auroville in Tamil Nadu on sanitary pad making.

The trainees were also taught on women’s reproductive health and how to take care of their self, the updates stated.

Further, awareness on the health hazards of disposable pads and the advantage of using eco-friendly pads was imparted to the trainees.

District Fisheries Officer C Dory Yanthan imparted training in how to make fish pickle, fish cutlets, fish balls etc using various ingredients and also how to make it hygienically to make it marketable, the IPR stated.
