Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): The general conference of the Southern Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (SAGOK) was held on Nov. 10 at Kidima village in Kohima district. A press release from the organiser offered updates on Sunday.
The principal secretary of School Education and State Council of Educational Research and Training, Menukhol John, was the main speaker.
He spoke about the responsibilities being government officers. He said that one should not forget their parents who helped and nurture their children. Officers should know their responsibilities towards their official works and not the other social obligations. That in turn will contribute to the society, he stated.
He pondered as to whether the officers are useful or useless officers. One must be an officer whom their colleagues doesn’t want them to retire or is fondly remembered even after retirement. That can be earned by an officer who is dedicated and who knows his subject matter, he added.
He also pointed out that quality education is the need of the hour. As officers one should be far sighted and plan for the coming generation by providing good education. The school dropped out rate in Nagaland is very high and this needs to be seriously addressed, he said and added that it is the duty of the officers and parents.
Further, John highlighted on the importance of having a proper parking space as well as waste management. He went on to say that from now on one must plan for the villages to have parking space, develop a system to dispose of the wastes by educating people to be more accommodative in providing more space for public utilities. “We are going to face the same traffic congestions that are been faced now in towns like Kohima and Dimapur,” he said. The speaker also released the census book of Sagok.
The Kidima Gazetted Officers Krotho (KGOK) hosted the conference and 12 villages of Southern Angami region participated in the programme. All frontal organisation office bearers of Southern Angami area attended the occasion.
Secretary of SAGOK Shurhovol Naleo presented gave a report and activities done by the SAGOK for the last three years. An audit report was also given by the convenor, audit committee Vikho Motonyu.
The association also elected assistant inspector general of police (supply) Kevithuto Sophie as their new president.
