Kichutip ward in Mokokchung celebrates silver jubilee

Mokokchung, Oct. 22 (EMN): Kichutip Ward in Mokokchung town celebrated its silver jubilee with the minister of Rural Development, Metsübo Jamir, as the guest of honour at Arok Salang on October 21 on theme “Unflinching Unanimity.”

Speaking on the occasion, Jamir lauded the founding fathers of the ward and stated that 25 years of existence was a result of the efforts put in by its members and with the blessings of God. Jamir stated that jubilee is a time to glorify the Almighty God for his blessings along with making amends and sanctifying oneself.

On the occasion, he appealed to the current leaders to exhibit exemplary deeds with honour and dignity to leave a legacy for the next generation.

He further advised to do away with negative criticism and build mindset to appreciate others for their contribution.

Jamir also released the jubilee souvenir book during the programme.

The additional deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe, stated that Kichutip Ward has been a pioneering ward. He has cited an instance in which the ward first availed the sanitation vehicle for collection of waste from door-to-door in 2017.

As an MMC administrator, he requested participation from the ward members to start making compost pits to produce manure. He also announced that MCC would start a mass scale on rain water harvesting project by means of constructing recharge pits. In this regard, he urged upon who own large compound and citizens to participate to combat the water crises in the town.

Short speeches were delivered by Imtimeren, first secretary of Kichutip Ward; Limanungsang, president of All Ward Union Mokokchung Town; R Longritemjen Ao, chairman of Aongza Ward Yimden; and L Mapu Longkumer, chairman of Mokokchung Village Council.

The welcome address was delivered by Imkongyanger, chairman of Kichutip Ward.
