Khurai Polo Club bags 24th Governor’s Cup

IMPHAL, MARCH 12

Khurai Polo Club bagged the 24th Governor’s Cup invitation polo tournament 2014 by defeating rival Manipur Police Sports Club polo team by a goal margin of 4-2 in their final match played at the Mapal Kangjeibung, the oldest living polo ground in Imphal this afternoon.
In the women’s competition, Imphal Riding Club beat Eastern Students Club by 8-0 goals.
Manipur’s governor VK Duggal, chief minister O Ibobi Singh, speaker of Manipur Assembly Th Lokeshwar, business tycoons and MP Navin Jindal and Chairman and Managing Director of Lalit hotels and hospitality Dr Jyotsana and others also attended the day’s closing function. The trophies and winning cash awards were also distributed to the winning teams and participating teams as well during the function.In his speech Governor Duggal appealed the polo associations to join hands to uplift its status in the national level while Dr Jyotsana assures that her organisation will sponsor forthcoming polo tourney in Kolkata next year.
