Khriezovituo Kire s/o Keneiwelie Kire today emerged as the first champion of Kohima Village Open Wrestling Championship (Junior Category) organized by kewhizou Entertainment Team (KET) at Dapfhütsumia ground village here.
Khriezovituo came from behind with an injured left elbow to defeat Kevikhrielie Kire s/o Late Neisetuo Kire in the final clash.
Kevikhrielie managed to pull down Khriezovituo in the first bout, wherein he also sustained injury on the left elbow. But, not giving up the fight, he continued and succeeded in clinching the champion title knocking Kevikhrielie in the second and decided bout.
Winning the championship Khriezovituo received cash award of Rs. 25,000 with trophy and citation while runners-up Kevikhrielie gabbed Rs. 15,000.
Kevisalie Kire and Keyiekhrie Rutsa won the third and fourth positions receiving cash award of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7000 respectively.Heavy downpour after the completion of the league rounds upto the pre-quarters at D Khel ground, the bouts from second quarter-finals till the valedictory function had to be shifted to IG Stadium.
Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, New & Renewable energy and Music Task Force and Chairman DPDB Kohima, Khriehu Liezietsu graced the inaugural function as chief guest.
Pastor of BMC Atuo Whuorie said the invocation while Convenor Organising Committee KET, Ketholhoutuo Belho tendered the welcome address and Avilie Kire administered oath to the 24 wrestlers.
