Khorsing Terang’s death anniversary observed in Diphu

DIPHU — The All Tiwa Students’ Union of Karbi Anglong District Committee (ATSU-KADC) observed the 69th death anniversary of Khorsing Terang, the first Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the former Mikir Hills District Council (now Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council), at the Tiwa Cultural Bhawan, Diphu.

Leading the commemoration were D Uphing Maslai, KAAC Executive Member for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department, and Joysing Tokbi, general secretary of the Karbi literary body Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA).

Maslai, in his speech, emphasised Terang’s significant role in promoting unity between the Lalungs (Tiwas) and Karbis and his history as the first CEM of the erstwhile Mikir Hills Autonomous District Council.

The event also included speeches about the close cultural ties between the Tiwas and Karbis and the importance of preserving their languages and traditions. Several dignitaries and community leaders attended the programme, reflecting the deep respect held for Terang’s legacy in the region.

Meanwhile, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) also commemorated Terang’s 69th death anniversary at the Khorsing Terang Memorial Park, with a ceremony led by MLA Diphu, Bidyasing Engleng, involving prayers and tributes from various religious leaders.
