Khonoma Youth Organisation (KYO) emerged champion in men’s category while Naga Bazaar Youth Organisation (NBYO) lifted the women’s title of the 2nd Kohima District Volleyball Tourney (Men & Women) organized by Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) under the theme “Transcending through games” at the Kohima Local Ground.In men’s category, coming from behind after losing the first two sets, Khonoma Youth Organization defeated Kiruphema Youth Organization by 3 sets to 2 in the best five final match played today.
The champions’ Khonoma YO received cash award of Rs. 30,000 along with trophy and certificates while the runners-up Kiruphema YO bagged a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and certificate.
Megorieto and Nikhotsolie both from Khonoma Youth Organization were adjudged Best Setter and Best Spiker respectively. They received Rs. 2000 each with certificate.
In women volleyball, Nagabazar Youth Organization knocked Sendenyu Youth Organization by 3-1 in the best of five final match of the tourney.
Nagabazar Youth Organization, champion’s received cash award of Rs. 20,000 along with trophy and certificates while runners-up Sendenyu Youth Organization bagged Rs. 10,000.
Sinile Kemp of Sendenyu Youth Organization and Sheholi of Nagabazar Youth Organization were declared as Best Setter and Best Spiker respectively. They also received cash prize of Rs. 2000 each with certificate.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner W. Honje Konyak graced the closing function as the guest of honour and gave away prize to the winners.
