Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): Khiamniungan community celebrated ‘Khaozaosie Hok-Ah-cum-Handicraft Festival’ on Saturday at Noklak town the public ground with S Heno, former parliamentary secretary, as a special guest. The event was organised by Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC), in collaboration with Noklak District Handloom and Handicraft Council (NDHHC).
Speaking at the celebration, Heno has emphasised that peace is paramount for all-round development. He mentioned that the ‘Khaozaosie Hok-Ah’ festival is a time for making peace treaties between villagers, merry-making and sharing meat with neighbours and cousins, stated a DIPR report.
Heno appealed to all the Khiamniungan community to live in unity and peace-loving citizens. Heno also urged upon the tribal leaders, public leaders and elders, DBs and GBs, and village elders to serve the people with dedication and work harder for the uplift of the district. He further urged upon the community to preserve and promote culture and tradition.
Also speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner of Noklak, K Mhathung Tsanglao, urged upon the community to maintain peaceful atmosphere for all-around development. He also encouraged the people in the district to practice the habit of forgiveness to live in unity.
He further wished the people of Khiamniungan community to have good health and prosperity.
The significance of ‘Khaozaosie Hok-Ah’ was shared by Head DB of Nokhu EAC headquarters, T Palu, and the president of Khiamniungan Tribal Council, M Thangou, shared the festival greetings.
Report stated that Heno also inaugurated the handicrafts and handloom stalls which was followed by presentation of cultural display and dance by Khiamniungan cultural club of Noklak town and Noklak town women cultural group. Ward-wise tug-of-war competition was also organised wherein Danlepdon ward emerged as the winner and the Medical ward won the second position.
Khiamniungan community in Thonoknyu headquarters also celebrated ‘Khaozaosie Hok-Ah-cum-Thonoknyu town cultural club 2nd cultural day’ programme on Saturday at the public ground.
It stated that Pukho, executive secretary, chaired the programme, while an invocation prayer was said by pastor Allo.
The significance of the festival was delivered by J Khumong, town DB.
