Indian National Congress (INC) President Mallikarjun Kharge will address a public rally ahead of the Nagaland Assembly election at Diphupar Village public ground in Chümoukedima, around 11 am on Tuesday.

This was informed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) media coordinator, Sujata Paul, a press conference in Dimapur.

Citing the 2021 report of ICMR- National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research, she said the healthcare system in Nagaland is on the verge of collapsing, while asking Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is currently on a two-day visit to the state, why the state’s health infrastructure and resources have been ignored.

She said the report has no data about sub district hospital, tertiary healthcare facilities and state cancer institute, while there is only one tertiary cancer care centre. She went on to ask why there is no data on implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme in the state.

As per the report, she said Nagaland has 397 SC, 56 HWC-SCs’, 126 PHCs, 05 HWC – PHCs’, 21 CHCs’ and 11 DHs, and there is one Tertiary Cancer Centre. The state is covered under Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY), she added.

She also claimed that data for Ujjwala Gas connection is amply lucid as it says 24.9% of rural households have clean fuel for cooking. She stated that 34% of children between the ages of 12 to 23 months have not received immunisation with Penta and hepatitis B vaccine.

Citing an incident in Dimapur district hospital where a nurse was seen treating a patients in the under candle lights, she said “Amit Shah must answer why Nagaland has been left in such a state”.

She said theft of electrical appliances at the health facility shouldn’t be used as an excuse for the condition of the hospital, saying that the government should have looked into the issue.
