KGF actor Ananth Nag slams Deepika Padukone’s skimpy outfit in ‘Besharam Rang’ song; says Indian cinema should stop nudity
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone play the lead roles in “Pathaan”

Bengaluru, Jan. 11 (EMN): Veteran actor Anant Nag has criticised Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for their attire in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from the upcoming Bollywood movie “Pathaan”.
“Pathaan” has ran into controversy after a few Hindu outfits and the BJP raised objections to the ‘Besharam Rang’ song where Deepika is seen sporting skimpy saffron outfits and Shah Rukh Khan donning a green-colour attire.
‘Against Indian culture’
In a conversation with Asianet, Ananth Nag said that “Showing women in such a way is not part of our Indian culture. If the censor team had done their job, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. Forget about movies, look at OTT content, they show all sorts of nasty and offensive stuff. Everything is openly shown and no one is there to stop them.”
“Indian cinema should stop such nudity content on big and small screens. Showing things against our culture and tradition will definitely cause conflicts among the people,” the KGF actor added.
‘Controversial scenes chopped off’
However, the makers of “Pathaan” is said to have done away with the close-up shot of Deepika Padukone’s showing the rear part of her body in ‘Besharam Rang’ as well as removed ‘partially nude’ sequence from the film.
Bollywood Hungama reported that three changes have been done to ‘Besharam Rang’ song, including removal of Deepika’s side pose (partial nudity) and sensual dance movements.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra had said that the movie might be banned in the state citing two reasons – Deepika’s costume and her silent support to JNU protesters in 2020.
“The costumes in the song at first glance are objectionable. Actress Deepika Padukone who supports ‘Tukde Tukde gang’ is in the song of the film #Pathan. The costumes are highly objectionable and the song has been shot with a dirty mindset. The scenes and costumes of the songs should be corrected, otherwise, we will consider whether or not to allow the film to be released in Madhya Pradesh,” Narottam Mishra had tweeted.
Then the Bajrang Dal activists created a ruckus at Alpha One Mall in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur during the promotion of “Pathaan”, tearing down the posters and promotional materials.
A seer in Ayodhya named Mahant Paramhans Das of Tapasvi Chhavni went a step further by performing the symbolic ‘tehraveen’ ritual of actor Shah Rukh Khan.
He said that the ‘tehraveen’ would mark the end of ‘jihad’ which was being propagated by the actor through his films.
“I appeal to people to set those theatres on fire where ‘Pathaan’ will be screened. Bollywood and Hollywood constantly try to find ways to make fun of Sanatan Dharma and insult Hindu gods and goddesses. In the Pathaan movie, Deepika Padukone wore a bikini which hurt the religious sentiments of saints and of the entire country. Shahrukh Khan constantly makes fun of Sanatan Dharma. What was the need to wear a saffron bikini and perform such steps in the song?” IANS quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, the trailer of “Pathaan”, which was released on Tuesday (January 10), has evoked positive response from the fans.
The movie featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham (villain) in the lead roles is set for release on January 25.
