KFL: Khriekesa FC thrash A Yhome 3-1; Forerunners FC win

(EM Images)[/caption] Our Correspondent Kohima, June 17 (EMN): Khriekesa FC and Forerunners FC won their respective matches of the ongoing 3rd Seyie Auto Kohima Football League on Monday, June 17 at the IG Stadium in Kohima. In the first match, Khriekesa FC beat A Yhome FC 3-1 with three of the goals being scored in the first half of the match. Interestingly, the first goal was scored 1 minute into the match by Ruokuovolie of Khriekesa FC. Vilhoubeituo of A Yhome FC equalised the score in the 22nd minute to make it 1-1. Khrieneituo scored in the 39th minute to make it 2-1 for Khriekesa FC. Another goal by Kevizakie in the 76th minute decided the victory for Khriekesa FC. The second match was played between Kohima Eagles FC and the top team Forerunners FC. Strikingly, Forerunners FC faced a tough match from Kohima Eagles FC. Despite much effort, the teams could not score any goals in the first half of the match. It was in the second half, Forerunners FC beats Kohima Eagles by 2-1, that too in the last few minutes. Kekhrieletuo Tsira netted the first goal in the 77th minute for Kohima Eagles. The leading score was equalised by Forerunners FC team captain K Thopi’s in the 90th minute. Thopi went on to score another one in the dying minute to leading his team to a 2-1 victory. Phek District Football Association President and director of Life Enterprise Colo Mero attended the occasion as the match patron. In his address he highlighted on the need of the state government to take interest in the overall development of football in the state including creating of training facilities as well as the platform. In the meantime, the state association and district association have to do what they have to do for development of the footballers. Even if players, organisers and clubs existed, without associations shouldering their responsibility, football will not grow, he said. He lauded the Kohima Town Club for initiating the KFL. A sincere club needs to be introduced where stakeholders can invest, not just for business but for professional footballer, he added. The president asked the players to give their best.  The better they play the greater outcome, which is ahead of them provided having a suitable age.  He encouraged the footballers to be disciplined, to be loyal and true to their clubs, so that they will be respected. To the fans, he said their little contribution and support will help the clubs and organisers grow. For football to happen one must come and support the local team.
