Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü retains D Khel wrestling champion title

DIMAPUR — Reigning champion Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü retained his title after defeating Menuosetuo Yiese in the final of the D Khel Wrestling Heat-2023, held at D Khel ground, Kohima village, on Saturday.

Seyiekhrietuo Yiese and Sedevizo Keretsü took the third and fourth positions respectively in the event organised by the Dapfhütsumia Youth Organisation, an update informed.

Altogether, 32 wrestlers from the four blocks of D Khel participated in the event. Kitsuoba Rhüba and Preilhobazou Rhüba emerged as overall champions.

Earlier, in the inaugural session, a senior member of the khel, Medoselhou Keretsü, exhorted the wrestlers on the lifestyle of exemplary sportsmen. 

Neisedelie Sachü, president of DYO chaired the programme, while Rev. Viwelie Khezhie invoked God’s blessings.

In a new development, a running belt was also introduced during the event, which was sponsored by veteran wrestler Kezhalelie Keretsü. The D Khel heat is the first round of events, leading to the popular Naga Wrestling Association’s Championship to be held next year.
