KOHIMA — Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, on Thursday inaugurated a multipurpose building of the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) in Phek town.

Speaking at the inaugural, he expressed gratitude to the contributors for making the project a success and noted that many people in the community have contributed towards the building. He stated that the implementation of the project was a testament of unity among the tribe and community. He added that when people do things in unity, it can do great work.

He expressed hope that the people would stand united and continue to extend support toward the upgrade of the project in future.

Convenor of the CPO building committee, Kekhwengulo Lea, presented a brief report on the project. According to him, the ground floor consisted of six commercial rooms, while the first floor have three office rooms, five rooms for lodging with bathroom attached and a conference hall.

He informed that the building measures 105 feet in length and 44 feet in breath. He added that the project was jointly funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and Chakhesang villages.

Earlier, Rev. Dr Thupucuyi Khesoh, pastor of Phek Town Baptist Church, said the opening prayer, while the programme was led by CPO president, Vezuhu Keyho.
