Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): Citing the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, the Sumi Hoho has appealed to Governor RN Ravi to keep the delimitation process in abeyance “as of now and ensure the conclusion of Naga political talks at the earliest”.

In a letter to the governor, the organisation pointed out that one of the major demands by the negotiating parties was increase in the number of legislature assembly seats.

If New Delhi agrees to this demand, the existing assembly constituencies have to be rearranged, it stated.

“Meanwhile, it is learned that the government of India is all set to carry out delimitation exercise in Nagaland along with some of the states, which contradicts the expectation of the Nagas. Therefore, keeping in view of the anticipated favourable outcome of the Indo-Naga peace talks, the Sümi Hoho, the apex Sümi tribal organisation, urge upon your benign authority  to keep the delimitation process in abeyance as of now and ensure the conclusion of Naga political talks at the earliest,” read the letter.
