KDFA fetes AIFF executive member Sekhose

Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): Kohima District Football Association (KDFA), on Friday felicitated Nagaland Football Association (NFA) president, K Neibou Sekhose, on being elected as an executive committee member of the prestigious All Indian Football Federation (AIFF), during a ceremony at 2K Hotel in Kohima.

Speaking at the event, Sekhose, recounted how he began social services at his clan level and gradually progressed to the state level and to the national level, an update informed.

He observed that it was important to start at a lower level and move on to a higher level, gaining experiences along the journey.

While it is important for sportspersons to maintain physical fitness, Sekhose urged sportspersons to pursue education. He challenged sports leaders to guide upcoming sportspersons and build a strong foundation for the upcoming sporting generation.

Sekhose began his football career as a player in the U-14 team and went on to represent the state in the school games in Kashmir in 1976 and later in New Delhi in 1978. He also represented the Northeast Hills University (NEHU) team from 1980 to 1984.

At the event, Sekhose also shared insights on the electoral process of the AIFF, and how he made it to the country’s prestigious sports body.

Angami Sports Association (ASA), president, Lhoubeizo Mere Kesiyie, in his greetings said that although Nagaland is a small state in the country and is not much known to people outside the region, the induction of Sekhose in AIFF gives hope for Naga sportspersons to advance and excel in sports, particularly football.

A short speech was also delivered by KDFA president Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome.
