KDFA announces 2nd Open Grassroots Football Tournament

DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) has announced that the second edition of Open Grassroots Football Tournament will be held on June 28 and 29 at the IG Stadium in Kohima.

The tournament will be held various categories including: Under-10 (5v5)- born on or after June 30, 2015; Under-13 (5v5 Boys)- born on or after June 30, 2012; and Under-15 (7v7 Boys)- born on or after June 30, 2010.

For the Under-10 category, teams may include both boys and girls, informed an update from the organisers, adding that the entry fee is INR 2,000.

Winners will be awarded with trophies and citations, while individual awards will be given for the Best Player and Most Promising Player in each category.

Meanwhile, following an executive meeting on May 24, the KDFA discussed strategies for the uplift, promotion and development of football in Kohima and beyond.

Sensing the need for collaboration among associations, coaches and referees, the association has also convened a co-ordination meeting on the theme “Way forward” at 2K Hotel, Officers’ Hill, on June 9 at 4 pm. All the stakeholders and bona fide members have been requested to attend the meeting
