Dimapur, April 23 (EMN): Election coordination committee of the Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) and Naga People’s Front (NPF), Kohima division, lauded the public of Kohima district for peaceful conduct of the recently held Lok Sabha election on April 11.
“We also acknowledge the support and coordination rendered by the party rank and file of both the political parties for exhibiting the united stand to fight against the communal forces of the PDA alliance the continuation of which is a threat to existence of Nagas in particular and the people of North East region in general,” the committee stated through its media and publicity cell.
KDCC-NPF coordination committee was stunned to come across the high voting percentage particularly under Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency. The Northern Angami-II AC recorded overall 84% voting with some of the polling stations having voter turnout between 92 to 97 per cent, which is abnormally beyond the imagination as compared to the state general assembly elections, the release stated.
In this regard, KDCC-NPF coordination committee have appealed to the concerned authorities to make special enquiry while also making efforts to set up webcasting or install CCTVs in polling stations having such high voting percentages in the future.
