In view of dismal market position prevailing in the state, especially in Kohima, the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) has appealed to all Naga underground factions to abstain from collecting any form of tax from the business community till a level of normalcy and tolerance are restored. It earnestly asked the various groups to understand the plight of business community, realize the gravity of the situation and abide by the appeal for the sake of peace and humanity.
The KCCI also drew attention of the factions against the multiple and unabated forms of taxation being carried out under coercion in the name of freedom movement.
The business community of the state capital and other areas of our homeland have been carrying the yoke of taxation for much too long and too harshly made to feed the various groups at the expense of our own well being, KCCI vice president Jabu Sekhose and general secretary Dr. Seyievilie Mor said in a release today.
Also lamenting that “Our personal sufferings are never being taken into consideration by the mushrooming factions till date,” the KCCI said multiple and unabated taxation has reached such a sickening level where business involving trade and commerce is dying to sustain the multiple Naga political groups.
The plight of business owners has reached such an unimaginable low where many people and families have gone bankrupt due to taxation under various guises and faces, it said.
“For years now businessmen have failed to prosper or secure a better future for their near and dear ones. Finding ourselves in a position which in all totally is against the ethics of trade and commerce and what we yearn of. People dwell into business to survive and not to sustain non producing entities,” the KCCI stated.
