Dimapur, July 9 (EMN): The Kohima Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship (KBPF) organised a one-day seminar for the church leaders on July 7 at Rengma Baptist Church, Kohima, on the topic ‘Religious fundamentalism and a Christian response’ and ‘Christian response to the religious fundamentalism.’
Resource person Rev. Dr. Ashish Chrispal, Regional Director for Asia Overseas Council & former principal of SAIACS, Bangalore, imparted knowledge on “Religious fundamentalism in India’s secularism’ and ‘The church response to rising religious intolerance.’
Resource person maintained that in the new context of growing religious fundamentalism, the mission of God has to be rediscovered from the very mission of Jesus Christ. He also said that God’s mission is not that of expansionistic Christendom, but a call, a living invitation, a sharing of the crucified and risen Lord so that people may have life. Ashish Chrispal also mentioned that Christian response can be guided by giving suggestions to be involved in nation building and to be service to all unreservedly and to raise voice against inequalities, atrocities and oppressions through various media. He also encouraged the church leaders to work for the dignity of people especially for the minorities, to unite and strive for unity among the Christians, and to engage in creative ways of following Christ within the cultures in the face of much negative opposition on religion.
Around 200 church leaders from different churches participated in the seminar.
