Karbi Students’ Association –Inglongpho officials administered oath of office

  • DIPHU — The newly elected president of Karbi Students’ Association (KSA–Inglongpho), Budho Terang, and the general secretary, Barnabas Killing, were administered the oath of office and handed over charges during a programme held at the conference hall of KSA central executive committee (KSA-CEC) office in Rongtheang on Sunday.

  • The outgoing president, Mirjeng Kro, handed over the charge of president to Bhudho Terang, while the former general secretary, George Timung, handed over the charge to Barnabas Killing.

  • They will hold the office from two year term from 2025 to 2027. Both Terang and Killing were elected as president and general secretary respectively during the 52nd KSA annual general conference held from April 4 to the 6th at Rongkangtui Aklam, Tekelangjun.

  • Prior to his appointment as president, Terang had served as the vice president and general secretary, while Killing was the external affairs secretary of KSA–CEC.

  • The oath of office was administered by the former general secretary of KSA, Tarzan Hanse, which was witnessed by former KSA leaders including former KSA general secretary Ajit Timung, former vice president Sing Timung and former president Bijoy Bey and adviser Philip Taro, president of Karbi So-arlo Amei (KARSA) Bina Terangpi and secretary Kareng Engtipi; Karbi Lammet Amei general secretary Liladhar Teron and president of Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum Beaulet Beypi.

  • After taking charge of the president, Terang has assured to support and strengthen the autonomous state movement with like-minded organisations as well as work for the betterment of education and the student community.

  • “During my tenure as president, KSA will strive on main three purposes i.e. to support and strengthen the autonomous state movement by involving like-minded organisations, improvement of the education system in the district and solving the problems of the student’s community. There are other things like inter-district and inter-state border issues, influx, economic opportunities, unemployment problems and many more. But we are stressing on three main points that have been stated earlier,” Terang said.

  • Terang also informed that other posts and executive members would be inducted, when the new CEC meeting is held in a few days time.
