DIPHU — Following the announcement of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) results for 2024 by the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA), the district-wise data reveals that Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong occupied the 8th and 18th positions, respectively—an improvement in rankings this time.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Executive Member In-Charge of Education, Richard Tokbi, stated during a press conference at his official residence on Saturday that the HSLC pass percentage in Karbi Anglong is 81.06 percent, while in West Karbi Anglong, it stands at 78.2 percent.

He noted that they established an education reform committee and organised an education awareness programme involving all stakeholders, including student organisations, education officers, and teachers, and attributed the results to their efforts.

“We should focus on more development in the education sector in the coming year,” he said, adding that the graph should never be at the bottom and should always be high.

In 2022, the HSLC pass percentage for Karbi Anglong was 49.92%, while West Karbi Anglong recorded a pass percentage of 42.71%. The following year, in 2023, Karbi Anglong saw an increase in pass percentage to 75.47%, whereas West Karbi Anglong also experienced an improvement, with a pass percentage of 66.33%.

Chirang district ranked first with a pass rate of 91.2%, while Udalguri district occupied the bottom position with a pass percentage of 60.9%.
