Karbi Anglong Police dept. dispels rumours on child trafficking

Diphu, Oct. 15 (EMN): The Law and Order department, Karbi Anglong organised an awareness programme concerning rumors about the presence of child trafficking --phangkedong in Karbi dialect and hopadhora in Assamese -- at Dikreng village opposite Taralangso on Saturday.

Additional SP (Border), Gayatri Sonowal and officer in-charge, Diphu Police Station, JS Khobung told the villagers not believe in such rumors and first know the reality.

Police are keeping a careful watch on the security and property of the public, he assured.

Village Defense Party (VDP) leaders, SGB, GBs and villagers of five adjoining villagers participated in the awareness prgoramme. Such awareness programmes will be organised in different locations under the Diphu police station.
