Diphu, August 15 (EMN): The district administration of Karbi organised 71st Independence Day at Diphu Government Boys Higher Secondary School playground here on Tuesday. Addressing the event as the chief guest, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang said that “until we achieve our Autonomous state of 244(A) Articles of the Indian Constitution which is the constitutional rights of the hills people’s we have to move on”.
He said the central government has sanctioned Rs. 5000 crore for the construction of PMGSY schemes where total of 1100 KM roads will be connected every knot and corner in the district. “Work cultures should be given due important rather than bandh culture and it should be omitted from our region”, added Ronghang.
“The government is generating employment to the unemployed youths under KAAC sectors and at Hills medical College in Diphu”, he said. “For the development of sports culture in Diphu sport complex with a budget of Rs. 45 crore and at Dongkamukam sport complex with a budget ofRs. 25 crore in west Karbi Anglong are on under construction and it is likely to finish in this year, added Ronghang.
During the function various ethnic cultural troops like Karbi, Rengma, Bodo, Hmar, Advasi, Tiwa, Nepali and Assamese presented their traditional dance.
The organiser also awarded prizes to best platoon commanders to Longmiji Bey of Kendriya Vidhalaya school, Abdul Alam of Chandrasing Higher Secondary school and Deepak Biswas of North Point English school First, second and third respectively. The best NCC contingent awarded to Diphu Government College, DAV and Don Bosco, First, second and third respectively and award of best school contingent to Christian English High School, JNV school and Don Bosco Higher Secondary school first, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
