Karbi Anglong Nehru Yuva Kendra organises Yuva Utsav

Diphu, Oct. 19 (EMN): Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Karbi Anglong under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, organised a district-level Yuva Utsav by organising various competitions including a cultural festival for the youths at Rangsina Sarpo Cultural Auditorium, Lorulangso here on Wednesday.
Competitions for young writer’s contest, young artist and declamation contests on the theme, ‘Take pride in our heritage and legacy,’ photography contest and workshop and cultural festival were held for youths between 15 to 29 years. The district youth convention was also held.
Participating in the Yuva Utsav the MP, Horensing Bey said it is a good initiative by NYK to organise the youth festival to allow youths to expose their talent.
The MP said the main purpose of organising the Yuva Utsav is to celebrate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of independence. In celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has come up with various plans and programmes like youth and women empowerment, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, special remission for prisoners etc.
He also said there are talented youths that need to be promoted by providing them with proper platforms. ‘The students of today will be leaders tomorrow’, he said and reminded the youths about self-reliance, capacity building, and to have positive thinking.
‘The PM has come up with Atmanirbhar Bharat –self reliance, talent, capacity, way of thinking, way of doing and the growth of the rural economy and everyone should support his plan,’ he said.
MLA, Bidyasing Engleng and DC, Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bagawati, also spoke about the promotion of talents among the youths. Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Phengpiga Rengma and Assam Garav awardee Khorsing Terang were present in the prize distribution ceremony.
