Karbi Anglong joins nationwide protest on NPS
In demand to abolish the New Pension System (NPS) and restoration of the Old Pension System (OPS), the employees of District Administration, Karbi Anglong (DC office) organised a daylong pen down strike in front of DC office in Diphu on Friday.
The pen-down strike was organised across the country including Assam demanding abolition of NPS and restoration of OPS for both state and central government employees.
In Assam, the strike was organised by the All Assam Government NPS Employees Association and in support to this, the employees of the DC office Karbi Anglong organised the strike under the banner of District Administration Employees Union. The strike began at 9:30 am till 5 pm.
One of the employees of the DC office, Manish Sil, a senior administration assistant said that those who were appointed from February 2005 including central and state government covers under NPS.
Sil said, ‘we are demanding the abolition of NPS as the future is uncertain for us and should be replaced by the OPS. Grade III and Grade IV employees including Magistrates are included in the NPS.’
Sil said there are 45 employees in the Karbi Anglong, Deputy Commissioner (DC) office. Diphu, Feb. 10 (EMN)
