Diphu, July 15 (EMN): The 36 hrs Karbi Anglong bandh was called by the Karbi Youth Organisation (KYO) in protest against the allotment of Executive Member (EM) of the MACs from the General category in Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC). During the first day of the bandh, the head quarter Diphu town remained closed. Only few private vehicles were seen plying in the town area however the KAAC secretariat office remains open. The district administration deployed police personal in the town area along the roadside in order to maintain law and order in the region. Till the filling of this report there was no untoward accident occurred in the region. Talking to reporters, one senior citizen said, ‘We are fed up of the bandh culture in Karbi Anglong.’ ‘In order to carry out the development work in the region bandh culture should be abandon as bandh or strike brings great lost to the society including daily wages earner, school students, government offices etc, senior citizen added.
