Karbi Anglong athletes shine at inter-district meet
DIPHU — The Karbi Anglong athletics contingent put up an impressive performance at the 46th All Assam Inter-District Junior and Senior Athletics Championship held at North Lakhimpur College Campus from February 2 to the 4th.
The team bagged numerous medals across various track and field events. Diphu girl Sangmir Teronpi clinched the gold medal in the 5000m race, while Surya Engti from Karbi Anglong won the top prize in the 110m hurdles event. Samika Ronghangpi and her 4x400m women’s relay quartet also picked up gold.
Kajir Milikpi bagged the silver medal in the 5000m race (girls), while Erisim Taro and his 4x400m men’s relay team finished second to win silver.
On the opening day, Deep Jyoty Boro struck gold for Karbi Anglong in the 100m sprint. Swmdwn Basumatary claimed silver in the same event. In field events, Promod Hagjer won bronze in javelin throw, while Riya Keot picked up a bronze in the 800m race.
The 46th edition of the annual athletic meet is being hosted by the North Lakhimpur Sports Association under the aegis of the Assam Athletics Association.
The Karbi Anglong team is led by team manager Mangalsing Engti and coach Pokhila Engtipi.
