Diphu, Jan. 7 (EMN): The MLA of 20-Baithalangso (ST) Legislative Assembly constituency, Rupsing Teron, on Wednesday made a surprise visit to Ummat village under Chinthong Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency in West Karbi Anglong.
A total of 117 water pipe lines brought from Meghalaya government for construction of water harvesting scheme at Ummat were seized by the Assam Police during his visit.
Informing this to the media, the MLA said that all the pipe lines seized by the administration of Karbi Anglong had been handed over to the village headman.
‘We had being told that the laying of water pipe lines cannot be executed till further discussion with the authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Meghalaya,’ he said.
‘The work will be executed only by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and not by Meghalaya government,’ he added.
The legislator was accompanied by Sona Terang Deputy Secretary, KAAC, Ulukunchi ASI Eshaque Ali, forest officials and others.
