Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): In what could be the first Covid-19 death in Nagaland, an elderly man who had tested positive for the Novel coronavirus from Kalibari Road in Dimapur on July 22 has died on Friday morning at the Covid Hospital.

A reliable source informed that the patient had many underlying ailments and was comorbid.

“The patient, around 70 years old, had a pacemaker and had a weak heart. He died this morning around 6:30,” the source informed.

The source informed that the patient’s sample was tested for Covid-19 through Truenat, and final confirmation via RT-PCR testing was being awaited.

If the RT-PCR result is positive, it would be the first death in Nagaland due to Covid-19, the source said.

“I am sure that the RT-PCR result will be positive but we have to wait for it since we need that for documentation,” said the source adding that the result should arrive by Friday evening.
