Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): The 33rd session of Ato Area Sports Association (AASA) got underway at Sukhato village on Mon. Nov. 5 with Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation G. Kaito Aye as the special guest who declared the meet open. This was stated in a press release received on Mon. Nov. 5 through the general secretary (AASA).
The 33rd GBs Football Trophy, 30th Nikhekhu and N. Yihoto Zhimo Memorial Volleyball Trophy {men & women) and 5th Shekuto Suu Memorial Badminton Trophy (men & women) will also be played during the week-long event.
Speaking on the occasion, Aye called upon the people of Ato area to uphold the theme of the association that says “unity through sports”. He said sportspersons play a crucial role in fostering unity as there was no boundaries for them and sports which is an integral part of life is a platform that will help the society to progress in all fronts.
He urged the participants to be hard working in order to achieve success in whatever they pursue in life and to emulate one another in a healthy competitive spirit. He reminded the gathering that the society needs good lot of youth to take the society forward.
