Kaito concerned over division in Naga society
Minister of Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye, on Thursday asserted that Naga society has been broken into pieces not because of hate or dislike for each other but due to various reasons.
The minister was addressing the second-day morning session of the 69th AKM general conference in Akhoya village under Mokokchung district.
“Unity is the only strength for the Naga people and now it is time for the Naga youth and student community to come together as one,” Kaito said adding “time has emerged for us to come together, as we are struggling with all forces.”
Describing the Ao Naga as a strong community, he urged them to be at the forefront and take the lead saying, “We are at a crossroad now and the Nagas are not so sure.”
He asserted that this generation can save the Nagas only if all come together and led the other Nagas and take them on board.
Citing ENPO’s demand, he wished that Naga are not marginalised and divided again but come together, help and build the Naga society.
“I think the government of India will come to a rescue… let us help each other… if we closed our relationship, we all will be singled out as helpless people without support,” Kaito added. He has cautioned and be careful at this juncture.
Also describing students as stakeholders of tomorrow, he advised them to be prepared to face the situation ahead.
The minister also released the 69th AKM souvenir at the function.
NSF president, Kegwayhun Tep stated said that Ao Naga has always remained the vanguard in upholding the Naga identity be it in the political, educational, social and our cultural fabric.
He also claimed that since the inception of NSF, AKM has remained one of the most vital cornerstones in the historic, yet difficult journey of the NSF. He has appealed to AKM to continue striving as a federation for a just peaceful and prosperous Naga future.
In his solidarity message, ENSF president, Chingmak Chang, called upon AKM to lead the Nagas, while the president of Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar, advised the students to take a decision today on what kind of skills, education, games, and sports they want to pursue instead of following other trends where they don’t have the talents and the ability.
Also addressing the workshop session at the ongoing AKM general conference as the special guest, NLA Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer, stated that AKM has achieved many successes and accolades since the inception of the organisation.
He stated that many young people have succeeded in diverse profession through the labour of its founding members.
“AKM remains as a beacon of hope for preservation of our cultural identity among the young and for preserving in the welfare of the students and nurturing the young talents into future leaders in diverse professions,” he claimed.
He added that one cannot be termed educated basing just on his ability to read and write. According to him, it takes eternity for one to be considered educated.
