April 14 at Tenyiphe-1, at 7th mile in Dimapur.[/caption] Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, April 14: A spacious home for senior citizens at Tenyiphe village located at 7th mile was inaugurated on Sat. April 14 by the president of the Nagaland Voluntary Association (NVA) Kaisa Rio. The home of the elderly is an initiative of the Chumukedima Area Christian Women Fellowship (CACWF). The concept of care homes for the aged is not common in Nagaland. Such institutions are also new to the Naga people’s cultural life, Rio said. Yet, she said, with the lifestyle that the people have come to adopt and as time progresses homes for the elderly will be in demand. Those with fine facilities and most essentially, those that give the most important requisite to human existence, love, will be in demand, she said. Referring to a scripture passage from Job 12:13 in the Bible, Rio said that the Bible gives importance to the aged because they have the understanding and wisdom. With the passing of time, she said, life expectancy has been shortened while we also are unable to give due importance to the aged. It is our responsibility to love and care for the senior citizens, Rio said. Appreciating the CACWF for believing in the good, Kaisa Rio encouraged the gathering to demonstrate Christian values more. Through this act, she said, in return ‘we will receive the joy of contentment.’ She has expressed hope that they will be an example to others. During the occasion a leader of the Tenyiphe-1 village council appealed to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to consider developing the roads in the village.
