KAAC provides INR 1 lakh to family of murdered minor

DIPHU — The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authority handed over a cheque for INR 1 lakh on Wednesday to the mother of the deceased minor girl, who was suspected of being raped and murdered.

Her body was discovered on January 26 at the Ruipi Langso Waterfall area under Dolamara Police Station in Karbi Anglong district. The cheque was handed over at Diphu Medical College and Hospital, where the body was brought for postmortem.

On the occasion, MLA Darsing Ronghang stated that the incident was unfortunate and condoled the minor’s death. He pleaded with the court to punish the accused in accordance with the law, including the possibility of capital punishment.

Meanwhile, the Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum (KAWJF) and Serdihun Serpindeng Pirthak Asong (SSPA), in a joint press conference at the KAWJF office on Wednesday, condemned the heinous act committed by one Dilip Rongphar.

They demanded that capital punishment be awarded to the culprit.
