Diphu, Sep. 9 (EMN):
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Thursday handed over a cheque of INR 2.50 lakh each to families of Late Sobita Hansepi and Late Anisha Engtipi who were allegedly murdered by unknown miscreants on August 28 at Upper Deigrum village under Chokihola Police station, Karbi Anglong, Assam.

The team led by KAAC, Deputy Chairman Ritish Enghi and executive members visited the residence of the victim’s families at Lokhiram Rongphar Village, Upper Doigrung and paid their respects to the departed soul.

Though KAAC, Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang could not met the victim families, a condolence message was also conveyed and it directed the police officer in-charge of Chokihola  to conduct a high-level enquiry in order.

It may be mentioned that two friends Sobita Hansepi (11) and Anisha Engtipi (9) went fishing on Saturday, August 28 but never returned home. A search team comprising family members and villagers went looking for them. One deceased body (Sobita Hansepi) was recovered from the nearby forest and Anisha Engtipi dead body was found after six days.
