DIPHU — The Unity, Victory, and Prosperity Rally for Duarbagori MAC constituency was organised by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) at Deithor Mini Stadium on Monday to showcase development schemes.

Deithor is located 138 km from the district headquarters Diphu.

The event began with the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, laying the foundation stone for school buildings.

He was accompanied by Richard Tokbi, EM of KAAC for Education, and MLAs Bidyasing Engleng and Dorsing Ronghang.

The schools include Dolamora Tea Estate Model Secondary School, budgeted at INR 2.766 crore; Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya at INR 6.88 crore; and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at INR 6.42 crore.

EM Tokbi, in his welcome speech, highlighted the development in Duarbagori, mentioning new roads, bridges, and school buildings, as well as improved water supply under the Jal Jivan Mission.

He announced the upcoming construction of the Chokihola-Deithor-Kohora road and discussed local horticulture, advocating for a cold storage facility in Kekang Adong.

Diphu MLA Engleng commented on the political dynamics, dismissing the impact of a recent Congress gathering at Diphu Club and highlighting the strained alliance between Congress and the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC).

MLA Ronghang emphasised the BJP’s clear stance on the Autonomous State issue and urged rally attendees to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The CEM praised the BJP’s leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, noting significant developments in Duarbagori.

He criticised the Congress and assured that ration cards will be distributed free of charge to all BPL families, and water facilities under the Jal Jivan Mission (JJM) will be extended to every household, including those covered by the Anurodhoi scheme.

The construction of the Chokihola to Kohora road will be undertaken with ample funding from the state government, assured the CEM.
