KAAC gives one-time financial assistance to 27 families

Diphu, Dec. 8 (EMN): The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang on Tuesday distributed INR 5 lakh as one-time financial assistance to each of the families of the 27 victims, whose lives were lost due to militant clash that erupted in 2003, 2005 and 2013 in Karbi Anglong,
The cheque distribution programme was held at KAAC conference here on Tuesday.
Earlier, CEM has announced of giving compensation to victim families whose lives were lost during the Autonomous State movement of ASDC and during militant clashes that took place.
While distributing the cheques to the head of the victims’ families, the CEM said, “A one-time financial assistance of INR 5 lakh each to the victims’ families of those persons who lost their lives in the Autonomous State movement led by ASDC. Now we are giving the same amount of INR 5 lakh as compensation to the families of those lives lost due to ethnic clashes. Today we have ceremonially distributed the cheques and those names who were left out, the victim’s family members can meet joint secretary, KAAC Michael Timung. By the end of this month the compensation will be given to the families,” he said.
“I pray that in the coming days such unfortunate incidents will not occur again. If peace prevails then only development will take place,” he said.
The programme was attended by Deputy Chairman, KAAC Ritesh Enghi; Executive Member (EM), KAAC Prodeep Rongpi; MACs Richard Tokbi and Pobitra Rongpi and Principal Secretary, KAAC Mukul Saikia, ACS and secretaries.
