DIPHU — As part of Gunotsav, an external evaluation of government schools initiated by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), the education executive member of KAAC, Richard Tokbi visited Loroplangso English LP School in Dhonsing Teron village under Lumbajong educational block on Wednesday.
The KAAC is conducting Gunutsav in all government schools from Class –I upto Class X in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts in order to test the student’s learning aptitude and to ensure quality education with grade-specific learning outcomes. The exercise started on October 16 with the purpose of improving education and accomplishing the mission by 2025.
On reaching the school, Tokbu was accorded a warm welcome by the students. He then participated in the morning assembly being conducted by the students in the school courtyard.
Tokbi was impressed by the discipline maintained by the students during the morning assembly hour and the singing of the national anthem.
The evaluation was conducted for Language –I (English) Language –II (Karbi), Maths, numeracy and reading.
The school has a pre-primary section (KG-I and KG-II) and Class-I upto Class V. The total enrollment is 182 with 5 teaching staff including headmaster Sar-im Rongpi.
It was observed that there are insufficient classrooms. Besides, there are no separate classrooms for Class – I upto Class –V. One of the teachers informed that students of Class – I and II have to share in one classroom, while students of Class –III, Class – IV and Class V also share in the same classroom.
The school has received an A+ grade in Gunotsav -2023 conducted by SSA, Karbi Anglong.
During the visit, the school management committee (SMC) members and school authority submitted a memorandum to provide for a ring well as it does not have a drinking water facility. The school also does not have a girl’s toilet.
