KAAC education department distributes 2217 tablets to schools
DIPHU — A total of 2,217 tablets were distributed to schools by the Department of School Education under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Tuesday.
The tablets were distributed in a ceremonial distribution function held at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall, Matipung in Diphu on Tuesday.
The tablets were given to primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary levels for both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts to be used for e-learning in school, Siksha Setu portal, management of the school and daily updating of PM Poshan.
The tablets were given as per the student’s enrollment. The schools having enrollment of below 195 were given one tablet, between 195 to 499 enrollment were given two tablets, between 500 to 999 enrollment were given three tablets, between 1000 to 1,499 enrollment were given four tablets and between 1500 and above enrollment were given five tablets.
While distributing the tablet PC to teachers, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said that the tablets were provided for e-learning and attendance of the teachers.
The CEM said, ‘if we want to improve our education system, we need to adopt e-education among children.’
Executive Member (EM), KAAC Education, Richard Tokbi in his speech said the government of India and the government of Assam have provided tablets to all provincialised government schools of Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary and higher secondary levels through an e-learning package.
The government of Assam has distributed 51,800 tablets to teachers. In both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts 2,217 tablet PCs will be distributed. This is just a ceremonial distribution and the rest will be given in Block levels, the EM said.
The Tablets were given to 10 schools as a ceremonial distribution. The rest will be distributed at Block levels.
