Diphu, July 4 (EMN): Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang distributed saplings of areca nuts to the locality of Disama, 25 km away from the district hqs. of Diphu under Lumbajong MAC constituency on Sunday.
The distribution was carried out under Agriculture department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. Speaking to media persons, CEM Tuliram Ronghang said that under Disama area, there are 12 villages and each household will be provided 100 areca nut saplings.
‘If we cover the Lumbajong MAC constituency, then 14 lakh saplings are required. If anyone is interested in areca nut plantation in the area, then from next year onwards 200 saplings with be provided including Lemon saplings to each household. Fisheries will be constructed for every household under Disama area since there is enough space and free fish seedlings will be provided from next year. The entire Karbi Anglong district in every MAC constituency, free saplings of horticultural items will be provided from the authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council according to the needs of the locality depending upon the soil. Under Nilip Constituency, 10,000 Orange saplings have been distributed as the soil is good its cultivation’, the CEM stated.
