Diphu, August 6 (EMN): The National de-worming day- world largest public health campaign to de-worm children between 1 to 19 years along with the rest of India National De-worming day (NDD) will be observed on August 10 and Mop Up Day (MUD) round on August 17 respectively. This was informed through a press communiqué by Sub-Divisional and Medical Health Officer in charge Manja block PHC Dr. Rupsing Hanse.
The government has adopted a single day strategy called De-worming day. The program is being implemented through the combine efforts of department of school education and literacy Ministry of human resource and Development, Ministry of women and child development and Ministry of Drinking water and sanitation, expounded Dr. Hanse.
Also Dr. Hanse elucidated that it is the largest De-worming program covering 340 million children under the age of 1 to 19 year. It is India’s commitment to comprehensive national response to the public health posed treat by worm, to combat soil transmitted helminthes infection.
During National De-worming Day (NDD) single dose of Albandazole is administered to children between the age of 1 to 19 years of age through the platform of School and Angawandi centre.
Albendazole is extremely safe drug that has been use for decades around the world and India.
Side effect such as nausea and vomiting can manifest in Children with high worms load children, any mild effect can be managed at the level at schools and Angawandi centre.
